Paul Nicholsons much awaited game against Phil Taylor was a good game but Taylor proved to strong in the end. Nicholson took a 3-0 lead and was looking good. Taylor hit back to go 5-3 in front then it was a neck and neck battle to 7-7 with Taylor to win the remaining games to win 10-7.

A good game in which Paul showed he can live with the best in the world and it will not be the last Nicholson V Taylor battle we will see, and Im sure Paul will have picked up a few more fans today.

Paul Knighton played well all evening to win the Easington Classic Title for 2011, a 3-2 win in sets over yongster Adam Hunt saw Knighton take the title hitting nine 180s on the way.

Adam Hunt played his part in the evenigs competition recording the best average on the night 33.40 and hitting a 170 finsh

Nicholson bows out to Barney.

Paul Nicholson's dream of a World Matchplay Championship win ended last night in a 13-9 defeat to former World Champion Raymond van Barneveld, Paul with an average of 92.35 slightly down to the game against Colin Osborne looked liked he was always struggling to keep up with the former World nuber one.

Cleveland Lady player Claire Stainsby qualified for the Winmau World Championship Finals at Hull in September, By winning a place in the Northern regional finals at the weekend.
A recent run of good form has got Claire into the finals which will be telivised this year by ESPN.
Claire an former Winmau Champion Linda Ithurralde made it to the semi finals of the Ladies pairs of the England Masters also at the weekend.

Paul Nicholson came through a tough encounter with Colin Osborne winning 12-10 on the must win by two clear legs rule, the two players both looked a little nervous throughout the game and it was always tight,

But it was Nicholson who got the all important two clear legs, the winning leg being in fourteen darts with scores of 85,180,100.96, and game shot on 40.

This will be a good start for Paul who is strongly fancied in some circles this week.

Well after all the rumours the Winmau World Masters T.V coverage is to leave the BBC after over ten years and move to ESPN, I dont think this is a step in the right direction as it means we have to pay to veiw and this will surely cut the numbers of viewers.
